Uncover what's holding you back.
This assessment is perfect for anyone looking for a massage therapist near Charleston or a professional mobility assessment on James Island or in Charleston. It’s the first step toward moving better, feeling better, and living stronger.
What to Expect from Your Movement & Pain Assessment at Scott Dawson Bodywork Studio
These sessions go far beyond a basic evaluation. I provide an in-depth look at how your body moves, where dysfunction may lie, and how it connects to pain or limitations. You’ll gain clarity on what’s happening and walk away with a personalized plan that includes manual therapy, massage, and neuromuscular techniques, all based on your body’s needs.
Why Fascia Matters:
Fascial tissue is the connective web that surrounds and supports your muscles, organs, and joints. When it becomes restricted—due to injury, stress, or poor movement—it can create pain, limit mobility, and disrupt your body's natural balance. My work is focused on identifying fascial restrictions and restoring healthy movement patterns, so you can feel and perform at your best.
What is Fascia?
Fascia is a three-dimensional network of connective tissue that runs throughout your entire body. It helps maintain structural integrity, provides support and protection, and acts as a communication system for movement and force. When fascia is compromised, it can affect your posture, flexibility, and even lead to chronic pain. That’s why fascia-focused assessments and treatments are at the core of what I do.
Why I Do What I Do:
I believe movement is medicine. My passion lies in helping people reconnect with their bodies, overcome pain, and rediscover ease in everyday movement. Through personalized, fascia-informed care, I'm here to guide you back to feeling strong, capable, and empowered.
Here’s what’s included in each session:
- Detailed intake process: Review of medical history, injuries, doctor/Chiropractor/PT guidance, and imaging reports.
- Full movement assessment: Visual gait analysis, leg lifts to assess pelvic/sacral stability, and muscle testing as needed.
- Discussion of pain triggers: A conversation to understand which movements or patterns elicit discomfort.
- Customized hands-on work: Massage and neuromuscular techniques are adapted in real time based on findings and your feedback.
- 90-minute and 2-hour options available: These extended sessions give us the time needed to assess, treat, and plan for meaningful, lasting improvement. During your first visit, we’ll discuss your injury history and pain patterns to understand what’s happening in your body. A detailed postural assessment comes later—once pain has decreased and joint mobility and range of motion have been restored.
Every session is unique because your body is unique, and my work is guided by both science and instinct.
